Why Choose Babybamba?
OUR STORY
THE BABYBAMBA PROMISE
BENEFITS OF USING BAMBOO FOR YOUR BABY
Over other leading fabrics, Bamboo fabric is instantly recognisable in
terms of comfort and feel. The high thread count is key to this and allows
the wearer maximum comfort.
- Bamboo is to cotton what cashmere is to wool – a more soft and luxurious feel.
- Bamboo fabric cuts out 98% of harmful UV rays, so perfect for holiday/travelling cover-ups.
- Every baby’s skin is different. A bamboo source alone does not establish that a fabric is hypoallergenic or suitable for allergy-prone skin.
- Bamboo fabric absorbs moisture away from your skin, keeping you drier.
- Bamboo fabric is insulating, yet it is also breathable. This means it performs well in all temperatures.
Bamboo-derived viscose should not be assumed to retain the bamboo plant’s antibacterial properties. Follow the product’s washing instructions.
BENEFITS OF USING BAMBOO FOR THE PLANET
Bamboo fibre is an amazing sustainable material with a wide range of applications. This remarkable and versatile product offers a completely eco-friendly solution to many of our modern needs.
Historically, bamboo has been used in Asia for the production of textiles, medicine and paper. Nowadays, thanks to contemporary manufacturing methods, bamboo pulp can be processed into fibres that are later used to create yarn and fabrics.
- Bamboo clothing is 100% biodegradable and can be completely decomposed in the soil by micro-organisms and sunlight.
- Bamboo only needs rain water to grow. Very little, if any, additional water is ever required.
- Bamboo yields the same volume as cotton from 10% of the land area.
- Bamboo thrives naturally without using any pesticides or fertilisers.
- Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, so yields more often from the same plot.
- As a grass, bamboo is cut not uprooted, so is good for soil – particularly as it can grow on slopes not viable for other crops.
- Bamboo plantations reduce greenhouse gases. They absorb about 5 times the amount of CO2 and produce about 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.
As bamboo fabric is gaining popularity in the fashion industry, there will naturally be an increase in growth and demand for more bamboo plants. This could ultimately lead to an increased amount of photosynthesis and result in another alternative to combating greenhouse gases.

WHAT IS WHEAT STRAW?
Wheat straw is basically a stalk that remains after harvesting of wheat grains. Usually, it is considered as agricultural waste. It is common to see farmers burning these remains in most of the countries, but the terrible fact is that it leads to huge environmental pollution and may cause potential public health hazards as well.
As forests around the world are suffering a major threat due to the increasing popularity of paper-based products; it is important to find a solid alternative to save them. With wheat straw, you can develop wide range of disposable paper products, and it is a rapidly renewable source as compared to trees.
BENEFITS OF WHEAT STRAW:
There are a wide range of benefits associated with wheat straws; few of them are listed below:
- They are sturdy, durable and strong solutions.
- Products made up of wheat straw are freezer and microwave safe.
- These natural materials are capable enough to handle hot liquids up to 100 celsius temperature range.
- They offer gluten-free, BPA-free and non-allergic solutions.
- They do not contain harmful toxic elements that could otherwise harm human health.
BAMBOO MATERIAL: YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED
As a mum-led brand, we know you want more than a lovely soft feel. Here’s a little clarity on bamboo fabrics, so you can choose with confidence.
What does bamboo viscose or rayon mean?
Bamboo describes the plant source; viscose or rayon describes the manufactured fibre. Viscose is a type of rayon made by processing plant cellulose into a new fibre. It is different from fibre taken directly from the bamboo plant. Check the individual product’s composition label for the fibre type and any blend percentages, rather than relying on the word “bamboo” alone.
Is bamboo fabric chemically processed?
Bamboo-derived viscose is made using chemical processing to dissolve cellulose and form new fibres. Plant-derived does not mean unprocessed or chemical-free. How a fabric is made and how the finished fabric performs are separate questions.
Does chemical processing mean it is unsafe for my baby?
The fibre name alone cannot establish the safety of a finished product. Look for product-specific testing and, where certification is claimed, a current certificate covering the item. OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 tests certified textiles for harmful substances against its criteria; it is not a promise that a fabric will suit every baby’s skin.
Is bamboo hypoallergenic or naturally antibacterial?
We would not assume either from the bamboo source alone. There is no evidence that rayon made from bamboo naturally retains the plant’s antibacterial properties. A soft feel is not evidence that a fabric prevents allergies, treats eczema or will never irritate skin. If your baby has a diagnosed skin condition, ask their healthcare professional for advice on suitable fabrics.
Is bamboo better than cotton?
There isn’t one answer for every family. Compare the actual fibre blend, fabric construction, feel and care instructions. The word “bamboo” alone does not prove better absorbency, breathability, temperature regulation or environmental performance than cotton. Those comparisons need evidence for the finished fabrics.
