Babybamba grew when I was searching for muslins for my babies, I wanted one that was of the softest material and made of a high quality. After doing some research I realised that the best material for my baby would be 100% Bamboo, as it has many benefits to the user and to the planet. Once I had sourced the material I knew that this needed to be available to every other baby.

BENEFITS OF USING BAMBOO FOR YOUR BABY

Over other leading fabrics, Bamboo fabric is instantly recognisable in
terms of comfort and feel. The high thread count is key to this and allows
the wearer maximum comfort.

  • Bamboo is to cotton what cashmere is to wool – a more soft and luxurious feel.
  • Bamboo fabric cuts out 98% of harmful UV rays, so perfect for holiday/travelling cover-ups.
  • For allergy prone skin, bamboo fabric is perfect. It’s anti-static and sits well next to your skin.
  • Bamboo fabric absorbs moisture away from your skin, keeping you drier.
  • Bamboo fabric is insulating, yet it is also breathable. This means it performs well in all temperatures.
  • Bamboo is antibacterial so it stays odour free and feeling and smelling fresh.

BENEFITS OF USING BAMBOO FOR THE PLANET

Bamboo fibre is an amazing sustainable material with a wide range of applications. This remarkable and versatile product offers a completely eco-friendly solution to many of our modern needs.

Historically, bamboo has been used in Asia for the production of textiles, medicine and paper. Nowadays, thanks to contemporary manufacturing methods, bamboo pulp can be processed into fibres that are later used to create yarn and fabrics.

  • Bamboo clothing is 100% biodegradable and can be completely decomposed in the soil by micro-organisms and sunlight.
  • Bamboo only needs rain water to grow. Very little, if any, additional water is ever required.
  • Bamboo yields the same volume as cotton from 10% of the land area.
  • Bamboo thrives naturally without using any pesticides or fertilisers.
  • Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, so yields more often from the same plot.
  • As a grass, bamboo is cut not uprooted, so is good for soil – particularly as it can grow on slopes not viable for other crops.
  • Bamboo plantations reduce greenhouse gases. They absorb about 5 times the amount of CO2 and produce about 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.

As bamboo fabric is gaining popularity in the fashion industry, there will naturally be an increase in growth and demand for more bamboo plants. This could ultimately lead to an increased amount of photosynthesis and result in another alternative to combating greenhouse gases.

With wheat straw, you can develop wide range of disposable paper products, and it is a rapidly renewable source as compared to trees.
