The Environment
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS TO THE PLANET?
Bamboo clothing is 100% biodegradable and can be completely decomposed in the soil by micro-organisms and sunlight
NOT THIRSTY
Bamboo only needs rain water to grow. Very little, if any, additional water is ever required.
GREATER YIELD
Bamboo yields the same volume as cotton from 10% of the land area.
GROWS NATURALLY
Bamboo thrives naturally without using any pesticides or fertilisers.
GROWS FAST
Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, so yields more often from the same plot.
SOIL SUSTAINABILITY
As a grass, bamboo is cut not uprooted, so is good for soil – particularly as it can grow on slopes not viable for other crops.
REDUCE GREENHOUSE GASES
Bamboo plantations reduce greenhouse gases. They absorb about 5 times the amount of CO2 and produce about 35% more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees.
